Sorry, Thats Not Satire Anymore...
August 22nd 2007 14:55
It's a sad, sad state of affairs when a 'serious' right-wing political blog is no better than a satirical one, neither cites any facts, studies or research and just gives out empty opinions disguised as half-arsed facts.
Lets look and compare, do your best to try and figure out which is supposed to be a joke and which is serious:
Please tell me which one is actually citing statistics? Which one can you trust more? I mean, if given the choice, which would you take more seriously? They both give empty 'facts' which are little more than cleverly disguised opinions.
So do you know which one is supposed to be serious? (scroll down to find out)
The first one.
Whats really funny is the second one is more... articulate, more to the point, and more god damn honest. The satirical one does a better job of conveying the opinion of a serious right wing neo-con than the actual right wing neo-con can!
Lets look and compare, do your best to try and figure out which is supposed to be a joke and which is serious:
He cited statistics in Los Angeles that were alarming, to say the least. Their crime rate is due in large part to the illegal alien gangs, operating with impunity because of their "sanctuary" status.
...
The "Culture of Comfort" being extended to illegals includes providing them with free education, (in their native language, so they don't have to bother learning English)
...
Not to mention their ability to commit crimes and face no real penalties.

Illegal immigrants keep the police busy, so they don’t have time to protect our Homeland. Illegal immigrants occupy 65% of all prison cells in America. The children of illegal immigrants are blocking our public school system by not even speaking English!
...
Illegal immigrants are too stupid to know when they are too drunk to drive and cause many deadly accidents in America.

Their problem is that they are so totalitarian, it's either their way or the highway.
As an example, they'll say that public healthcare sucks and that privatized is the only way (because socialized medicine = communism = evil). They won't budge from that. To me, they can both work, different ways of achieving the same end, but both systems have to be regulated, private insurers shouldn't get a free ride and the public health system shouldn't suck.
But hey what the hey 'socialized' evil world. Evil, evil.

There are two terms that I have learned over the years.
Sophism:
Someone who knows that they are wrong and continues to defend the case.
Fanatic:
Someone who will never know that they are wrong despite overwhelming evidence.
Tick the correct box.
