The west and the middle east are in a clash of ideologies some would say, yet it's really the entire world that is in a clash of ideologies between those who love freedom and those who love their own freedom.

Mitt Romney perfectly demonstrated just why conservatives have gone too far with their own religion so much so that it essentially mirrors that of the Islamic terrorists who will fight us over here if we don't fight them over there.

In his final speach informing everyone that he was dropping out he said that "These Jihadists will battle any form of democracy—to them, democracy is blasphemous for it says that citizens, not God shape the law".

That is a very interesting point however what pushes it into a world of surrealism is how one of the core aspects of his speach was how faith in god creates a strong nation. Americans love god and "Europe is facing a demographic disaster" because it "is the inevitable product of weakened faith in the Creator, failed families, disrespect for the sanctity of human life and eroded morality".

Now I ask, how are you different to the Jihadists who believe it is blasphemous to say that "citizens, not god shape the law" when you say so yourself that the reason Europe is in a 'disaster' is because citizens, not god, are shaping the law? In essence you're elaborating on how god would shape the law in a country, through the people.

If You Don't Know Why 'They' Hate 'You'

February 22nd 2008 08:12
Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine your country is controlled by a foreign power, if you can't imagine such a thing because obviously you belong to the strongest nation on earth imagine a bunch of Aliens in huge spaceships one day decide to start floating over your cities. Then instead of blowing you sorry lot away with their clear superiority (though threatening to do so on their news channels) they instead decide to stick plungers in your pubs and various alcohol retailers and start sucking out the juices so they can power their cars in their alien world.

Now imagine they get lazy and decide they want to instead have you send the bear over to them. So they manipulate your political system, install phony balony 'leaders' who, if you are lucky, will simply say that you must serve your alien masters, though if you're unlucky said leader will more or less destroy whatever society you have and frequently torture and kidnap your friends and family.

So you have no bear, you have no sense of national pride, and you know its the superior alien force hovering over your head that is the cause of this. What do you do when your daughter is killed 'for fun' by a mercenary force not directly related to the alien beings but whose existence is only to serve said alien beings? What about your oh so special leader who has interspecies sex with said alien beings in an effort to keep his positition of power?

Well if you don't pick up a gun, or a bomb, or anything, and fight back then you're playing along and you will live in misery. You also probably are in your old age and have a family to worry about. Then again you probably have kids, who know nothing but oppression, who know, from you, the cause of their oppression is from said evil aliens manipulating your countries political system.

Your boy has no future, he'll pick up a gun and make one for himself or die trying. You know your boy doesn't hate the aliens for no reason, your boy hates the aliens for ruining his life. Will the boy discern between the various aliens? Some who do not approve of whats happening compared to others who do? Maybe, but if they don't then he will sink to the level of his oppressors, be it the aliens, the contracted alien military force or the government, and in the end be no better with his single minded determination to get his way.

What we have now in this political climate is a complicated situation, in cruel irony people who proclaim they 'don't know why the muslim terrorists hate us' in that same sentence demonstrate why 'they' do hate 'us'. Try having your country hijacked from a foreign power and having it literally bled dry of its natural resources (or beer). Try being tortured, bombed, improsned by a foreign power. I promise you won't be able to discern or even be willing to dsciern between friendly westerner and evil war mongering westerner.

Putting aside their unjustifiable actions 'they' hate you because of your own arrogance and how through it you have brought nothing but misery into their lives.

Teachers Who Don't Care?

January 30th 2008 18:07
I've been in school for twelve years of my life and have in that time only ever come across one teacher who I can truly call 'unsupportive' and 'uncaring'. It was like she had already designated who she thought would be a good student vs. who would be a bad student from day one. She however was in stark contrast to every other teacher I've ever had, and yes, I've had tonnes of teachers.

There's one thing I've really learned from school and it's that the vast majority of teachers are very much dedicated to their students. From the substitutes to the full time to the overtime I've seen first hand the dedication these fine people display, such dedication that anyone with a heart would admire

People Kill People

January 20th 2008 04:12
Every so often someone kills someone else in the name of or under the influence of some sort of divine entity. We don't usually take offence at our consumerist tendencies when someone is murdered over money but we don't hesitate to attack the religion or belief of the day if a crime was committed by someone claiming to follow that belief.

Today I'm not going to talk about people killing under Islam or Christianity but rather video games. Why video games? Playing violent video games is something that is a bit of a past time amongst the younger folk, granted by younger I mean people under forty. So when someone who is under forty and plays lots of violent games murders someone it raises a few eyebrows

Justifying An Evil Using History

January 18th 2008 14:33
Some of the greatest people in history have skeletons in their closets we would probably like to forget. From Mahatma Ghandi's blatant racism to the founding fathers ownership of slaves we often forget that even great people can make grave mistakes or commit evil.

One such person would be President Franklin D. Roosevelt. In a particularly ironic way he is the reason why the US has limited Presidential terms, he served four terms in office, so as you can probably figure out he was quite popular during his days. I quite respect President Franklin, maybe for the wrong reasons but his political career is somewhat of a drawing power of inspiration

Build the Twin Towers One Floor Higher

January 18th 2008 11:13
That's all you need. Re-build the towers as they were before but make them one floor higher, make them one floor better and dedicate that top floor to those who saved lives and died during 9/11. There's no way to better stick it up those who hate you by rebuilding the towers just as they were albeit closer to the sky and better than before. No need to create an elaborate building that looks different, thats just giving the terrorists what they want, it sets the precedent the towers were due for a demolition.

Every day ground zero remains empty is another day ground zero remains a victory for the true enemies of the United States. So just rebuild them both, a floor higher, a floor better, and you have a victory.

Bring me Heaven, Bring me Hell

January 17th 2008 13:33
What is it that makes people think they have a guaranteed pass into heaven? What is it that makes someone say 'I will go to heaven because I believe such and such'? On whose authority? Gods? Did god tell you? It could be more readily argued that you're lost in your own delusional world than god speaking to you.

Fact of the matter is god did not say you're going to heaven or I'm going to heaven. At best god set down the criteria to follow to get into heaven but has made no guarantees you will follow that criteria as he intended. The question of faith transcends blind belief, simply saying 'well I believe this so there' does not get you anywhere, however saying it with your heart and acting upon it is true faith

How can you charge someone with a crime they comitted yet refuse to accept any defense they use under the same banner of laws in which they were charged? We are on a slippery slope and things are going from bad to worse as now a US judge has ruled that even if torture and religous abuse were illegal (they actually are) they would supposedly not apply to non-US citizens provided the acts were comitted off US shores.

Yet the way the constitution reads is 'people', not 'Americans' and it's 'we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal'. The way the justice system is set up in virtually ever developed nation works under the principle you can defend yourself using the same law books that were used to take you to court. It's simple common sense, I can't simply accuse you of murder under US law then when you demand we go to court over my accusations I highlight the fact you aren't a US citizen therefore you are untriable under US laws. I'm convicting you under US laws for crying out loud

You know it's kind of funny that the title kind of reminds me of Hillary Clinton, this despite the fact it has nothing to do with her. No, this is about Barack Obama, the Muslim, or so I was told by Fox News after which it was spectacularly debunked and has now managed to resurface again.

I wonder just what sort of profound arrogance it takes that makes someone believe they are justified in lying. Yet even so, the reasoning this lie is based on is mind boggling. I don't see the problem with a Christian being President and in that line of thought I don't see a problem with a Muslim being President, or a Christian or a Jew

I always enjoy reading about how perfect someones beliefs are and how following them will make the world a better place. Like a sci-fi writer explaining the wonders that are lying just around the corner I can't help but enjoy the story. It is of course simply a fictional story.

Atheists have, like any other religious group, been trumpetting their ideas of the inevitable perfect world thats just 'round the corner waiting to be found any day now. The world in which everyone is just perfect and no one is at war because there's no religion to go to war over

My Day as a Bigot

January 6th 2008 05:26
So I decided to play the role of a bigot for one day, but not just any bigot, the ultimate bigot of the world. The kind of bigot who hates anything and everything and who can never be wrong. Well it's interesting, because after less than an hour I've gotten tired of the hate.

From my time of hating I've learned that all Germans are incestuous paedophiles, that Iranians have sex with goats, that Hindus burn their daughters alive, that Muslims choke them to death, that Americans are blood thirsty murdering war mongering incestuous drug taking drug dealing empire building genocidel homicidal suicidal maniacs who have no heart much less a conscience aaaand a bunch of other things that I don't want to mention here. Hell, I haven’t even started

The Old Men Are Tired

January 5th 2008 00:38
Barack Obama Speach
Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee have both won the first round in their epic little battle to win the presidency. One thing has been made clear by the victory speaches of both, Obama has the enhusiasm and charisma, the cheers show it, Mike Huckabee on the other hand is tired and his supporters are even more so tired.

They're tired of the same monotonous politics that has existed for so long, they're tired of the same speaches that have gone on for so long. They don't know it though, they think they still have the enthusiasm and charisma they've always had. Yet when one looks at the raw passion Obama's supporters are capable of coupled with the proud and charismatic speach Obama gives then turns to Huckabee's speach the difference is made obvious. Huckabee's supporters have been there, they've done that and aren't they bored

True Colours

January 1st 2008 20:58
People can be good at hiding what they think or truly believe, though alcohol and anger have a habit of showing what they really think. Such people as Mel Gibson and Michael Richards have proven to be apt examples, other slightly lesser known ones belong to that of Ann Coulter and Bill O'Rielly though we give them some exemption because they're always slightly crazy in the head.

In a previous post I mentioned how I did not want to point out the obvious flaws in an article written by someone for whom I feel that I should have great respect for. However I should emphasize the reason for that was to keep the article in context rather than going off in tangents. Here however my intention is to show the sheer irrationality of those who hate and their inability to truly cover up their hate
