Spot the Idiot

April 1st 2008 19:44
I've found 'The Sun' to be quite the newspaper... if you're an idiot. As an example let me present to you one of their articles. Keep in mind I'm not going to reproduce anything here besides the title, you can go see the article for yourself here.

The title is:

Students fight for their writes

Clearly misspelled to poke fun at the Palestinian boy.

My question is, how many American kids his age could write that same sentence in a foreign language? Not necessarily Arabic or Chinese or Russian, any non-English language will do.

Heck, let's make it even easier.

How many Americans can write a word from a foreign language?

Let me make it even easier.

How many caucasians can write a word in a foreign language? Just look at it statistically and get back to me on this.

Let's just sit and think for a moment.

Anyone who considers "The Sun" to be a serious publication should ask themselves one simple quesiton. Is the sarcasm crude sarcasm warranted and has the writer of the article even back checked the facts?

If you look at it with any sort of intelligence and objectivity it would be quite obvious that boy is pretty damned smart for writing in a foreign language. While some kids his age in the first world can't even write in their native toungue this kids doing quite well with a broken education system.

Is there any more proof needed of the outright bias this article has? If you still aren't convinced then nothing can convince you. If you like to side with cowards who not only refuse to treat a story with any sort of objectivity but also are too afraid to reveal their names for fear of ridicule then by all means.

In Before the Crackpot

April 1st 2008 07:14
I never recieved this email but read about it online, I'm not sure who wrote it originally but it was your generic crackpot nationalist.

The email was titled "Email of the year" and reads as follows:

WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

"My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has been completed.

Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short . The United Kingdom , Spain , Bulgaria, Australia , and Poland are some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains every one not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war. THEN EVERY YEAR THERE AFTER IT'll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hell holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France .

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home . On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.

Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France or maybe China .

I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France, Germany, and Russia . Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bonne chance, mezamies.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York

A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.

Mexico is also on List 2 its president and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra thousand tanks and infantry divisions sitting around. Gues s where I am going to put 'em? Yep, border security.

Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, 'darn tootin.'

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America It is time to eliminate homelessness in America . To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you guys. We owe you and we won't forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to speak Arabic.

God bless America ... Thank you and good night."

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.

It's cute how some Americans still think they're a god send, the email itself implies France doesn't give foreign aid, which it does, far more efficiently than the US and not to foreign dictatorships. Perhaps it's just another one of those things, some neo-con is upset that the war in Iraq is lost and jealous of the countries that weren't stupid enough to ally with them.

With the tanking US economy time will tell how long they can keep their smug attitudes before reality catches up with them.

Boycotting the Olympics...

March 30th 2008 13:53
Is an act of hypocrisy.

To only make yourself feel better you have to wonder, what are you doing? Is it truly for the greater good or is just for yourself? I dare say those who want to boycott the Olympics couldn't survive a week boycotting Chinese exports.

If you want China to address its human rights violations through peaceful protest then by all means, but protest, don't just say 'I'm boycotting the Olympics therefore I am'. Boycotting the Olympics is hypocritial and counter productive at best.

There are many scientific debates that are argued using political or religious points. Such arguments tend to carry an 'all or none' mantra where either side has to have its way and compromise just isn't acceptable. In the case of global warming one side declares it exists one side tries to reason its way out and in the middle there's a perfectly good argument that whether or not global climate change will result in the apocalypse is irrelevant, we are running out of fossil fuels and are clearly killing off the environment.

Abortion itself is an even more absurd debate, one side claims it's 'my body' the other 'even a few gobs of cells is life'. Both sides are actually wrong and right in a sense, it is part of the womans body and it is also a few gobs of cells. That's where it ends, because the gobs of cells develop into something that can be best described as human and at that point it's really a living being seperate from the 'host body

I'm not one to hold it against someone for changing religions, assuming of course they are changing religions. In the case of Magdi Allam he did not change religions, he never was a Muslim to begin with.

To be a Muslim you have to follow the five pillars of Islam, starting with accepting that there is only one God and that Mohammed is his last messenger, pray five times a day, give charity, fast on Ramadhan and if possible make a pilgrimage known as 'Hajj

The west and the middle east are in a clash of ideologies some would say, yet it's really the entire world that is in a clash of ideologies between those who love freedom and those who love their own freedom.

Mitt Romney perfectly demonstrated just why conservatives have gone too far with their own religion so much so that it essentially mirrors that of the Islamic terrorists who will fight us over here if we don't fight them over there

If You Don't Know Why 'They' Hate 'You'

February 22nd 2008 08:12
Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine your country is controlled by a foreign power, if you can't imagine such a thing because obviously you belong to the strongest nation on earth imagine a bunch of Aliens in huge spaceships one day decide to start floating over your cities. Then instead of blowing you sorry lot away with their clear superiority (though threatening to do so on their news channels) they instead decide to stick plungers in your pubs and various alcohol retailers and start sucking out the juices so they can power their cars in their alien world.

Now imagine they get lazy and decide they want to instead have you send the bear over to them. So they manipulate your political system, install phony balony 'leaders' who, if you are lucky, will simply say that you must serve your alien masters, though if you're unlucky said leader will more or less destroy whatever society you have and frequently torture and kidnap your friends and family

Teachers Who Don't Care?

January 30th 2008 18:07
I've been in school for twelve years of my life and have in that time only ever come across one teacher who I can truly call 'unsupportive' and 'uncaring'. It was like she had already designated who she thought would be a good student vs. who would be a bad student from day one. She however was in stark contrast to every other teacher I've ever had, and yes, I've had tonnes of teachers.

There's one thing I've really learned from school and it's that the vast majority of teachers are very much dedicated to their students. From the substitutes to the full time to the overtime I've seen first hand the dedication these fine people display, such dedication that anyone with a heart would admire

People Kill People

January 20th 2008 04:12
Every so often someone kills someone else in the name of or under the influence of some sort of divine entity. We don't usually take offence at our consumerist tendencies when someone is murdered over money but we don't hesitate to attack the religion or belief of the day if a crime was committed by someone claiming to follow that belief.

Today I'm not going to talk about people killing under Islam or Christianity but rather video games. Why video games? Playing violent video games is something that is a bit of a past time amongst the younger folk, granted by younger I mean people under forty. So when someone who is under forty and plays lots of violent games murders someone it raises a few eyebrows

Justifying An Evil Using History

January 18th 2008 14:33
Some of the greatest people in history have skeletons in their closets we would probably like to forget. From Mahatma Ghandi's blatant racism to the founding fathers ownership of slaves we often forget that even great people can make grave mistakes or commit evil.

One such person would be President Franklin D. Roosevelt. In a particularly ironic way he is the reason why the US has limited Presidential terms, he served four terms in office, so as you can probably figure out he was quite popular during his days. I quite respect President Franklin, maybe for the wrong reasons but his political career is somewhat of a drawing power of inspiration

Build the Twin Towers One Floor Higher

January 18th 2008 11:13
That's all you need. Re-build the towers as they were before but make them one floor higher, make them one floor better and dedicate that top floor to those who saved lives and died during 9/11. There's no way to better stick it up those who hate you by rebuilding the towers just as they were albeit closer to the sky and better than before. No need to create an elaborate building that looks different, thats just giving the terrorists what they want, it sets the precedent the towers were due for a demolition.

Every day ground zero remains empty is another day ground zero remains a victory for the true enemies of the United States. So just rebuild them both, a floor higher, a floor better, and you have a victory.

Bring me Heaven, Bring me Hell

January 17th 2008 13:33
What is it that makes people think they have a guaranteed pass into heaven? What is it that makes someone say 'I will go to heaven because I believe such and such'? On whose authority? Gods? Did god tell you? It could be more readily argued that you're lost in your own delusional world than god speaking to you.

Fact of the matter is god did not say you're going to heaven or I'm going to heaven. At best god set down the criteria to follow to get into heaven but has made no guarantees you will follow that criteria as he intended. The question of faith transcends blind belief, simply saying 'well I believe this so there' does not get you anywhere, however saying it with your heart and acting upon it is true faith

How can you charge someone with a crime they comitted yet refuse to accept any defense they use under the same banner of laws in which they were charged? We are on a slippery slope and things are going from bad to worse as now a US judge has ruled that even if torture and religous abuse were illegal (they actually are) they would supposedly not apply to non-US citizens provided the acts were comitted off US shores.

Yet the way the constitution reads is 'people', not 'Americans' and it's 'we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal'. The way the justice system is set up in virtually ever developed nation works under the principle you can defend yourself using the same law books that were used to take you to court. It's simple common sense, I can't simply accuse you of murder under US law then when you demand we go to court over my accusations I highlight the fact you aren't a US citizen therefore you are untriable under US laws. I'm convicting you under US laws for crying out loud
