People Ask, People Give

October 27th 2007 17:52
Going to university I find it hard to comprehend how someone could possibly say that diversity is not a good thing or can cause problems. I haven't come across anyone who has ever been so out spoken about such matters in uni, nor have there been any problems in relation to the Dastardly Diversity (c). Either these people don't exist in universities or they're too busy trying to meet assigment deadlines (god knows I am/should be).

I think the real question here is, what kind of society has a Chapel and a Gay club less than five hundred meters away from each other? What kind of society then puts a Mosque in between the two? The biggest question is: What kind of society does all that and not go into some war over Crusade/Rights/Jihad?

Well I dunno, I can't be bothered answering that one, suffice to say that at my university the Christian/Homosexual/Muslim population is quite *large* both individually and summed up. Then again, the hippy population is also reaching crisis levels.

So why no problems? Why no violence? Why no racially motivated crimes? Why has every crazy theory concuted by political extremists on diversity not come into play at my uni? I mean theres this expensive prayer room, this morally unethical homosexual club and this atheist villifying chapel all within walking distance of each other. Heck, we even have a bunch of halal restaraunts, actually I'm pretty sure they are all halal. Heres a theory I have: We get along because we respect each other. As for the restaraunts: Free market economy wins ^_^

Maybe if we had more of the 'we can't get along because we are different (and white christians are better than everyone else)' people there would be the violence they are constantly predicting. I guess the only real cause for violence is being inconsiderate to your fellow man, labelling their needs and desires as 'over demanding' and making a big hassle out of simple requests.

Thank you. In spite of your critics' opinions dismissing you (as they dismiss me) this post makes a lot of sense. You and I do not agree on everything, but I will treat you with respect and will not call you names.

haha well I don't call people names unless they call me names. I can respect a person who accepts my view point and doesn't resort to immaturity even if he/sh edisagrees than someone who agrees with me but is less than mature about the way he/she expresses those views.

What part of my opinios would you disagree with?

I'll take that up in a later comment!
