Parents Sue Because Raising Kids is Apparently Difficult

September 21st 2007 05:58
It wouldn't take a god damned university education to know that raising kids would be hard work. Apparently a couple don't think that is the case and are planning on suing a doctor that gave them their kids.

Apparently the couple wanted one child, not twins, and are now claiming to have lost love over the difficulties of raising twins (I so feel sorry for them).

"She (the twins' birth mother) always said that she had a big heart filled with love," the woman said, weeping.

"I find (now) that she doesn't have the same ability to love that she used to and the same capacity to, I guess, embrace differences and issues as a couple or as a team."

I never thought raising kids would exhaust someone, I always thought it was fairly land and all that. I wonder if the situation wasn't IVF and they were (read: could) do it naturally and had twins who would they sue?

God? Nature? Mother earth? Thor? Oh wait, bet the woman would sue the husband.

It's just sad that children are being turned into objects like this. It's so artificial and pathetic to try and sue for having twins, money ornot being exchanged. There shouldn't be room for this type of behaviour. It comes down to IVF treatment being used as if it were just another type of elective surgery, theres too much crap involving old women and single moms exploiting it when it should be for those who need it, not those who want it.

I don't agree with everything about this issue that you bring up, but there are people who would give their eye teeth to have children, and this was a Lesbian couple, and I still think there are issues surrounding their ability to have access to these programs, and now, by suing, they risk putting the cost up for other couples thus restricting their access.

Once upon a time you accepted children, wanted or not, as they came along.

Anyone not aware of the risk of twins with IVF needs their head read.

I am just appalled by this and I am glad you are bringing it to attention, I saw just a very brief mention on the news yesterday.

When are people going to learn to accept responsibility for their own actions ? It seems to have gone out of fashion. If she's upset now, just let her see what the legal system is like. And what do you tell the children, I only wanted one of you. How awful.

can of worms this issue...agree with you totally that if you conceive naturally who are you going to blame.....

makes me very angry the way these women are behaving, like Katyzzz says they are jeopardising access to IVF for many many people, gay, straight or whatever.

Well done for not making it a "gay" issue because it isn't it is a there is something wrong with these people issue......

Also like Katyzzz says those who can't have kids would give just about anything to have two babies.....

The worst thing was 2day FM this morning getting Reverend Fred Nile to go on another Gay bashing tirade over this issue. It was a disgrace, i didn't have my mobile and actually pulled over to a phone box (havent touched one in like 10 years) to call in to have my say but it was engaged. Just another excuse to isolate people who just want to be like everybody else and not singled out.

.I have to stop writing this now because my blood is boiling over.

Katyzzz, it's a confusing issue so no one can agree 100% on any one specific definitinon.

Given the mother has managed to earn $100,000 in the last financial year shows that this can hardly be a monetary issue. I'd go as far as to say this is just a greedy attempt at getting money, perhaps fueled by a complete lack of understanding about what parenting actually is.

Louie, it clearly isn't a gay issue, it's more of an issue of incompetant parenting amongst a dozen other things and the whole homosexual topic has very little to do with the real issue at hand.

Trying to turn this into a gay bashing attempt is not at all different to turning every petty theft into examples of how 'diversity is not a good thing'. When it comes down to it all it's grasping at straws with thinly veiled attempts at attacking people.

It's absolutely ridiculous. To me, this couple have not thoroughly thought about the whole process and it's possible outcomes and to think all the women out there who can't have kids biologically!
