Nothing to Fear, Except The Truth
May 17th 2007 07:48
People who are hopelessly deluded on either end of politics hate the truth. They may claim otherwise but usually give it away, take Romney for instance, who happily says
You know those dastardly lawyers, they'll free evil bearded men who should be in prison for... having beards I suppose.
The good thing is two thirds of Americans do want Guantanamo closed so that leaves Romney with only two particular morons who will actually vote for him. Oh and actually only one of them can vote for him.
Guess which one.

I am glad [detainees] are at Guantanamo. I don’t want them on our soil. I want them on Guantanamo, where they don’t get the access to lawyers they get when they’re on our soil. I don’t want them in our prisons, I want them there. Some people have said we ought to close Guantanamo. My view is we ought to double Guantanamo.

Some were freed, and guess what. They went back to being terrorists.
We had some others who were going to be freed, and guess what. The DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE !! That's right. They thought the "horror" of being locked up in GITMO was better than being "free" in their terrorist homeland. So much for the alleged "mistreatment."

I don't really get that source, it's from a blog and the comment is from an Army serviceman. Come back when you have something I can believe.

It's kinda complicated but easy to understand. If terrorists were to organize and operate under a nation which signed a an international contract. The nation would be protected under that contract. But that nation would hold the status of a nation which means we can offically declare war on that nation.
That's not such a good thing for terrorists. Remember when Cyprus, Hesbolla, attacked Israel. Cyprus is an EU member and joined the Geneva Convention. Cyprus had a heck of a time figuring out what they had. Were they embedded terrorists they should discard or were they Cyprus nationals? Cyprus selectively called some terrorists anth others soldiers and came to terms with Israel, kinda.
It's not benicifical for terrorists to become nationals because nations are large targets and conflicts can come to war. Knocking down a building filled with terrorists isn't hard as hard as rounding up people that are dispersed over a wide geographical area.
It's also not beneficial to an individual to be a terrorist because they may forfit their international rights. Depends if their nation wants to pay for them. These rights were agreed upon by nations that contract and agree in an international forum.
I hope people everywhere will be tough on the terrorists. Because no correct minded nation wants to pay for the frailties of a few.

You do realize some of these 'terrorists' belong to countries, like Australia and Britain? They are citizens of countries and are held without charge, only on mere suspicioun. They are not given their day in court and the only sane reason anyone can think of is because they could easily prove their innocence.
