How to Spot a Racist Prick

November 7th 2008 15:51
I came across this article by way of this link.

The title of the article is: "4 Marines Charged in Murder of Sergeant, Wife"

The title on the link to the article is: "4 Black Marines Executed Their Interracial Sergeant & Wife"

Erhem, so that isn't implying race had something to do with it? Or did you just bring it as a conversation piece? Or where you subtly implying that racism was involved and the 'MSM media' is too 'afraid' to 'speak the truth'.

Well lets look into the article itself,

The couple's home was ransacked and jewelry and other items were taken. A fire was set, apparently in an effort to destroy evidence. The Camp Pendleton-based Marine sergeant and his wife were tortured before they were shot execution-style, according to a published report.

Race was a motivation? Racism? A hate crime? No where in the article does it ascertain it had anything to do with race.

The person who submitted the link to digg had this to say:

Please be respectful.

Most the mainstream media is covering up the details of this story, which is bias and negligent journalism.

The people deserve to know the facts, thanks to Digg this is possible.

I don't think the terrible 'mainstream media' is 'covering up the details of this story', race is not exactly a relevant 'detail' until its proven to be a relevant detail. Do you really think the terrible 'mainstream media' would say 'hey these crimes were hate crimes by black men on a white guy!' only to later catch themselves out in the open when the investigation concludes race had nothing to do with it?

You sure are grasping at straws 'they're black therefore it was a hate crime! OMG, finally an excuse to be racist again!' In your defense you will say something about being 'respectful', quite the statement for someone who liberally draws concrete conclusions from circumstance.

hey that was pretty blatant!

although the article links to another article for more detail that kind of implies the mothers of the murdered couples may have thought race was a factor

Investigators said the motive for murder was "financial gain." Neither mother believes that.

"They were in love," her mother-in-law said. "It didn't matter to them that they had different skin colors."

The bride wore her favorite white Converse sneakers, and she was still in the process of writing thank-you cards when she was killed.

it doesnt really conclusively state what the motive was but (sloppy journalism in my opinion) it just mashes a whole pile of random detail together . . . like was the fact that the husband was a Polish immigrant relevant or just thrown in to paint him as hardworking?

i really dont understand why they stated what kind of shoes she was wearing . . .

If the killers had been 4 white men, I can gurantee you that the media would at least indulge in a little open speculation on a racist motive.

The coupling of a white man and a black women is far less common of an occurence than that of a black man and a white woman. That rarity alone is enough to at least make one wonder, in my opinion.

Of course, I'm sure that people who are irrational enough to commit MURDER are also people who can be objective and clear-headed enough to keep any potential racial motives in check (A little sarcasm there for you...)

In any event, even if we could prove that racial tensions played absolutely no role whatsoever in the minds of these 4 men, I can assure you that there is no shortage of black-on-white crime out there, "racist" or not.

Not a hate crime? Could you, in all of your vaunted wisdom please, please, please explain to me what crime is not motivated, in some way, shape or form, by hate? Could you please give me an example of a love crime? Furthermore, when was the last time that a crime committed by a white person against a non-white person was NOT reported in the media as a hate crime? How often do such stories get reported wherein the 'journalists' make a statement such as "Authorities are investigating to determine if race was a factor."?
