Blackwater Ranks Higher Than The US Military?
October 12th 2007 19:02
The problem with merceneries is that they are hired to get a specific job done rather than a generel objective. It's like in 'Saving Private Ryan' where Tom Hanks (whoever his characters name was I can't remember) said 'our objective is to win the war' which would be true for any soldier in any sort of conflict. Sure there are specific tasks given to a soldier to be carried out but if the soldier could step three feet to the side and end the war he would.
This isn't true with merceneries, their only bottom line is getting their job done. If it's 'escort this diplomat here' thats what they will do, even if in the process they end up killing the folks the diplomats were going to negotiate with. Not part of the job description would be a more than apt excuse.
Why does the US military need merceneries to back it up? Isn't it supposed to be the most powerful armed force in the history of the world? It sure doesn't look like it when contractors are brought into the fray. Get some merceneries to do some of the dirty work. Whats worse is that now it would appear that Blackwater even outranks the US military in some ways, at least it would appear so through their arrogance.

Naturally I'd agree that it probably is just random over exaggerated claims. But this isn't new, in fact there are multiple sources for the same news that further ram home the fact Blackwater isn't doing the US military or Iraqis any good. It would seem that the only reason they are there is because someone is in Blackwaters pockets, the question is, who?
Is the US military suddenly incapable of doing the stuff Blackwater does? Is it that they can't do basic escort missions? Is it really better for the US government to pay these merceneries severel times the pay packet a typical US soldier would get to do something that is not that much more dangerous nor difficult to do than what said US soldier does on a daily basis?
No wait, it's United States officials who have very little faith in their own soldiers whom they have tasked with one of the most messiest wars in the history of time,
Come on people, Iraq isn't going to solve itself and this whole Blackwater thing is just one of the things thats causing the problems.

"Can you believe it? They actually drew their weapons on U.S. soldiers." He was describing a 2006 car accident, in which an SUV full of Blackwater operatives had crashed into a U.S. Army Humvee on a street in Baghdad's Green Zone. The colonel, who was involved in a follow-up investigation and spoke on the condition he not be named, said the Blackwater guards disarmed the U.S. Army soldiers and made them lie on the ground at gunpoint until they could disentangle the SUV. His account was confirmed by the head of another private security company. Asked to address this and other allegations in this story, Blackwater spokesperson Anne Tyrrell said, "This type of gossip has led to many soap operas in the press."

Also, whenever FBI agents venture into Iraq now they are guarded by ... Blackwater operatives.

Blackwater's staunchest defenders tend to be found among those whom they guard. U.S. officials prefer Blackwater and other private security bodyguards because they regard them as more highly trained than military guards, who are often reservists from MP units. A U.S. Embassy staffer, who did not have permission to speak on the record, said, "It's a few bad eggs that seem to be spoiling the bunch."
Come on people, Iraq isn't going to solve itself and this whole Blackwater thing is just one of the things thats causing the problems.
