Australian Left For Dead, by American Troops

July 23rd 2007 13:26
I suppose there were no Australians in Black Hawk Down, that and American soldiers (or any soldier for that matter) aren't ever as brave or compassionate as they are either potrayed or like to think of themselves. Case in point? Australian, dying in Iraq, was left for dead by American troops who refused to call in a helicopter after finding out he was Australian.

Oh bravo, I don't really support the war the way it's being fought, but I don't hold it against the Americans, I hold it against the American government. But hey what the hey, theres always those folks who sure as hell don't make it easy.

If theres any reason to be hating Americans it isn't because their rich and powerful (they can have their riches and power, they can also have a terrible health system) it's because they are deluded in their own delusions of grandeur.

Of course this doesn't apply to all of them, just a few, like the ones who left someone for dead because he wasn't American.

The guy did survive, thankfully, after seven hours some British troops took him to a hospital. So much for the Americans holding up their end of the bargain eh? Back to Britain with us, at least they care about us as much as we do for them.

I find it hard to believe that any civilized nation's troops would intentionally abandon another soldier solely because he ore she was not not American (or British, or Australian or whatever). But you say it happened and, if it did, I agree with your disgust!

I do agree that we Americans can be pushy and overbearing, but you have to admit we drive on the correct side of the street, don't put a "u" in words as "color", "flavor", etc. and beat the crap out of the Redcoats.

"But you say it happened and, if it did, I agree with your disgust!"

I agree here, if it did happen as the reports says, it is horrible.

But, the report says "The US refused to provide a helicopter to evacuate the wounded man after being told he was Australian".

They refused to supply a helicopter - was there danger of further loss of life or injury if the helicopter was sent in. Perhaps it was logistically impossible for a helicopter to get into that area.

Anyway, I would like to know where news.com.au got its information from. Where are some quotes (the entire article is quoteless). Seems like an unreliable article to me, for this reason. Poor journalism.

Until the full story comes out, I can't pass an objective judgement.

I think the salient question to be asked in this debacle is, WHY weren't the Aussies picking up their own man?

As for the Yanks, well, who really knows? We do need to read an objective report on the matter before we can 'know' the truth, if that is at all possible anymore, given the control of media the military/industrial group has these days.

I do have a solution though, all Aussies bring a six pack with them, good strong Aussie beer, and see if that gets them a ride...and maybe shave their legs...couldn't hurt!

One last point, the Yank soldiers complained recently that the Aussies were steadfastly avoiding any and all hot spots, more or less accusing them of cowardice. (but anyone who knows our military well, would not say this of them! However, probably it is understandable that the Yanks are getting pissed off, since the ammo is aimed at them anyway, no matter who else is around)

maybe that has something to do with all this?

They weren't because he was a Contractor working with the US army, not Australian army. The Australian army is very careful in warezones, it's why we don't get many (if any) casualties.

I think they're just sour Australians know how to fight a war, and it doesn't necessarily involve gunfire
